18 Weeks - Our Sweet Potato

December 31, 2012

 18 WEEKS | PRINCESS IS THE SIZE OF A SWEET POTATO | 5.6 INCHES & 6.7 OZ

It's funny that she is a sweet potato this week.  My Gramma (Dad's Mom) called me that all my life..."sweet potato".  It's funnier now because all these years I thought it was just a term of endearment but my Mom explained to me that it was really because my Billirubin count was high and I was orange, like a sweet potato.  My Gramma always did have a dry sense of humor!

THIS WEEK.....princess is hiccuping, yawning, swallowing, twisting, rolling, punching and kicking.  Lots of activity going on in my belly.  If only I had a glimpse at what she was up to.  That would be awesome!

How far along? 18 weeks along

Total weight gain or loss: 12 lbs

Maternity clothes? Yes....but still fitting in regular tops. After trying on all my summer stuff for this trip my ass doesn't fit in ANY bottoms!

Stretch marks? Nope.

Sleep: Sleeping great but keeping waking up sporadically.

Best moment this week: RELAXING for once!!!!

Miss Anything? Sushi and drinks!

Movement: Yes.  Started to feel little kicks on my right side and middle 3 fingers from my belly button last week.  Still the same.  It's really sporadic so I find myself flipping out if I don't feel anything for a day.  Gotta remember she is still so tiny and floating around in lots of fluid....well that's what I keep telling myself.

Food cravings: Can't get enough fruit, juices & gummy candy.  Also been craving fish tacos...Jeff and I make the best ones at home.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I can do without pork.

Labor Signs: God no!! Crazy how far away it seems that I will actually say yes.

Symptoms: Sore boobies, restless sleep, still sleepy (not as bad as it was).

Belly Button in or out? In, I really hope it doesn’t turn into and outie, that grosses me out!!  It is starting to get flatter towards the bottom and my piercing is starting to frown :(. Once my uterus moves up more it's game over.

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy happy HAPPY!!

Looking forward to: Just enjoying each day, soaking in the rest of my time away and my belly growing more and more.

Other stuff: Still getting nosebleeds (even on the beach), spotty skin on my face, sore and dry boobs!  I am also hungry as a mofo!  All I think about is food and what my next meal will be.

17 Weeks - Our Sweet Onion

December 22, 2012

     17 WEEKS  |  PRINCESS IS THE SIZE OF AN ONION  |  5.1 INCHES & 5.9 OZ

Pic taken atop the Carnival Breeze right before setting sail!

So much cool stuff happening this week....feeling baby's tiny kicks, off from work, meeting up with great friends in Miami and a long awaited vacation to the Caribbean!!!  Woohoo!!  This week will be the great belly reveal!

Speaking of which I had to buy all new bikinis this past week because I didn't realize how much my tits grew.  They almost need their own zip code, I'm not even sure of what size bra I fit into. I'll have to go next week and see. So rather then spending hundreds I went to Target and got a few mix and match that I can wear again, or not.  I bought some solid and patterns that I can wear with my own bikinis as well.  Although the fabric isn't ideal, they have the look and size I need for my newly HUGE knockers.

I will post pics next week from the trip since I won't have my chalkboard with me.  I cannot believe after all I did to make that thing I have written on it twice and taken only one picture.  I will make myself do it weekly from here on in!

THIS WEEK.....our sweet baby girl's cartilage is turning into bone, her umbilical cord is thickening, sweat glands are developing and she's growing fat on her tiny little body.

Pic I took at my parents, scrubby.
Pic I took at my parents, less scrubby.

Me with the love of my LIFE!

Food cravings: Can't get enough fruit, OJ, lemonade and other juices.

Anything making you queasy or sick: I can do without pork.

It's a GIIIIIIIIRL!!!!

December 19, 2012

I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT, I KNEW IT!!

So yesterday my results came back from the MarerniT21 blood test, which was NEGATIVE!  Halleluja!!  Since that test looks at the DNA in my blood from the baby it can tell the gender as well. So after the doctor gave me the results he asked, "Is there anything else you would like to know? Such as, what you are having?".  I paused and was like "YES!!  BUT...is there any way you can call me back and leave a message on my voice mail so I can listen to it with my boyfriend??"  and that is what he did!!  I sat all day long knowing that the gender was just a voice mail away!

Around 2:00 am on Tuesday morning Jeff got home from work and came in, jumped into bed and immediately said "where's the phone?  Let's listen!!".  At that point I had assumed we would just wait for the sonogram but "somebody" just couldn't contain himself!

So here it goes......

"The results of the blood test show no traces of the Y chromosome, so it looks like it's a girl, congratulations!"

WHAT! WHAT!!!  Momma (me) was right......it's a GIRL!!! I laughed hysterically and then followed by crying and we had some funny convos before falling asleep.  This morning we woke up just as excited to find out again and see our little baby!

I love busting Jeff's balls, which will be my new past time....  He is officially out numbered not only in our home but in life in general!

OUR LITTLE PRINCESS - 16WEEKS 5 DAYS

Poor Jeff is officially screwed.  What he won't do for his child, let alone a little princess!

HAVE A HOLLY JOLLY CHRISTMAS!

Ever since I was little Christmas has always been my favorite holiday.  Even more so as an adult.  It reminds me of FAMILY, love, cooking, eating, lots of cookies, laughing and more eating...happy moments through and through.  It reminds me of my Opa, one of the most amazing men in my life.  We always spent the holidays with my Mom's Dad (my Opa), whether it was in California or Florida....this time of year always reminds me of him.  I would help him decorate the front of the house with lights and spending time with him was my absolute favorite.

These thoughts do make me a little sad though because that relationship I had with him is something my father will never get to experience with my child.  My Daddy was taken way to soon from us, it was not his time to go there was so much more in store, wonderful things!! My Dad would have been an amazing Papa and I feel truly cheated that my little one will never get to know him and be loved by him.  I am lucky though because my stepdad is just as special and will be the greatest Opa, spoiling the shit out of this kid!!

These are the things I cannot wait for...

...to leave for vacation in a week, we are going on a holiday cruise to the Southern Caribbean!  I haven't gone away since 2008 and me & my LOVE have never gone on a real vacation together!! (We've been together for 4 years and 9 months.)  These are the Santa hats we will be wearing on Christmas cruising....football for the boys and sequins for the girls!

...to find out the baby's gender on 12.18.12!
...to grow a big belly aka nest for my baby!
...for 2013!
...to give birth to this little miracle!
...to celebrate next Christmas with our newest addition!!
...to one day have a house to decorate like CRAZY during every holiday!!
...for all of the blessings that are in store and around every corner!

I am wishing for 2013 to be "our year" with wonderful things in store.  I am not a martyr but 2012 was probably one of the worst years of my life....I am ready to move on, past it and forward.

Below are prints I am in LUST with!!  I'm thinking next year, when we will be around for the holidays, I will print a few out and put them up throughout the apartment.  I can't wait to have a big house one day (well bigger then and apartment) to decorate with garland, candles, lights, mistletoe, wall decals, christmas trees, garland, ornaments and SO MUCH MORE!!

My favorite thing to do right now is play music, listen to holiday music and JUST BE!

ALL IS CALM ALL IS BRIGHT

Boy or Girl?

December 14, 2012

Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 at 10:15am is going to be monumental!!!  We are not counting or anything...  We have an appointment at the imaging center to find out if this little monkey is a girl or a boy!!  We have gone back and forth with what to do.....

...do we find out right then and there at the appointment?
...do we have them tell us not to look when they are looking at it's junk and have them put it in an envelope?
...if they put it in an envelope do we open it when he gets home at 2am from work so we can open it privately?
...if they put it in an envelope do we wait until we get to mass to open it with my family?
...if they put it in an envelope do we wait until we are on vacation 3 days later?

Some people decide to not find out.  I do NOT KNOW how they do it?  I could never wait.  They usually have the same answer....."it is the only pure and wonderful surprise you can ever have in life".  I agree that is true but for me, I just cannot wait.  I feel like knowing will make me feel even more bonded knowing exactly what is growing inside my belly.  A little princess or a little prince!!

SO THE QUESTION IS, BOY OR GIRL?
LEAVE YOUR GUESS BELOW IN THE COMMENTS.

Nursery Inspiration....it's JUST STARTING!!

December 13, 2012

So I know it's early (16 weeks) but my wheels are ALREADY turning and overflowing with ideas and inspiration for our little monkey's room!  We are just so excited!  Although the room right now is super tiny I guess most of our items will be in storage for a while (sigh).  I don't know why but I am so in love with light grey with POPS of subtle color.  I like a modern, yet fun and warm feel with vintage and eclectic accents...I guess that's kind of contradictory.  But pretty normal since I live in a world of varying extremes!  Modern and vintage....

I want this baby's room to be an oasis, to be calming and soothing for the mind.  I don't think a bedroom should have super bright colors or even black.  I bedroom is meant for sleep and calm, not for constant stimulation.  I guess that's why I feel like grey is a great balance to color....it's not drab like beige and it's not cold like stark white.  As Goldie Locks says "It's just right".

Love the grey with white polka dots :)
{image: Pottery Barn Kids}
Aqua, Grey and chevron...LOVE!
{Image: Project Nursery}
I love the simplicity of a warm white and pink, simple and cute!
{Image: Pinterest}
Obsessed with white and grey chevron pattern...
{Image: http://house36.wordpress.com}
Blue and white...just right!
{Image: Project Nursery}
More chevron, a little over the top but grey and teal is dope!
{Image: KooKooBear Kids}
This is a great gender neutral base, just add accents.
{Image: Project Nursery}
Love the coral and aqua :)
{Image: Project Nursery}
I like the accents, color is a little too bright for me (for a whole room)

Love the colors, rug & pouf!
