14 Weeks - Our Little Lemon

December 3, 2012

       14 WEEKS  |  BABY IS THE SIZE OF A LEMON  |  3.4 INCHES & 1.5 OZ

It sure feels nice to finally share with everyone our very big news!  We told our friends and extended family on Thanksgiving, after our NT scan appointment, earlier in the week.  I can't wait to keep updating everyone and sharing the exciting things going on.

THIS WEEK.....baby is making pee-pee (woohoo), breathing (fluid), it's liver, kidneys and spleen are still developing and our little monkey is growing soft hair all over it's body....just like a real monkey. LOL

Our Little One just snoozing...14 W Check-Up

First Try.....PHOTO BOMBED by Sashi!

Non Photo Bombed!

How far along? 14 weeks along
Total weight gain or loss: 7 lbs EEEEEEK
Maternity clothes? Starting to because pants are not comfortable AT ALL!  I tried the hair tie as an extender and it just cuts into my belly.  Bought a top, pair of jeans and black pants from H&M.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Sleeping great, although I did notice I am getting up between 3 and 4 for about 20 minutes and then falling back asleep.  Still feel like I need about 3 naps during the day.
Best moment this week: Seeing my parents. They came for the weekend, last weekend, for some family time.
Miss Anything? Still miss deli turkey and mutz sandwiches.  Actually missed having a glass of wine with my family.
Movement: None but I cannot wait.  Sometimes I lie really still hoping to feel it.  But nothing yet!
Food cravings: LOADS of Orange Juice, V8 Juice, smoothies (love me some Jamba Juice), also Pirates Booty!
Anything making you queasy or sick: I can do without pork or fish right now.
Gender Prediction: I’m really feeling girl for some reason.  Jeff thinks boy.
Labor Signs: God no!! Crazy how far away it seems that I will actually say yes.
Symptoms: Sore boobies, gas, bloating, exhaustion/fatigue.
Belly Button in or out? In, I really hope it doesn’t turn into and outie, that grosses me out!!
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy happy HAPPY!!
Looking forward to: Seeing my baby on Tuesday and growing a belly!
Other stuff: My belly is definitely growing & I’m starting to feel sharp pains here and there (I think they are round ligament pain).

After Every Storm There is a...

November 27, 2012

I found this quote on a onesie that I WILL be buying for our little baby!

Below are some amazing pics of our little one from the Nuchal Translucency Screening we had at 12 weeks 5 days.  I look at them every day and just feel so blesses for each day I have with it thriving in my belly.  Little does he/she know but I have been waiting a very long time for him/her!!

Here Monkey is sucking it's thumb. Look closely, you can see each digit.

Someone looks like they are blowing bubbles....is that possible?

Staying still for the ultrasound tech, we were told baby is VERY well-behaved! ;)

Baby looks a little like Skeletor.

13 Weeks - Our Perfect Peach

November 23, 2012

       13 WEEKS  |  BABY IS THE SIZE OF A PEACH  |  2.9 INCHES & 0.81 OZ

So I am 13 weeks along now but we decided to wait until after the NT (Nuchal Translucency) Screening this week to spill the beans to the rest of our friends and family.  The suspense has been killing us (to tell people freely)!!  It will be nice to just tell people.  I feel like a hibernating bear or a Vampire that can't go out in sunlight!!

For anyone wondering, the NT is a high resolution ultrasound that measures the space in the tissue in the baby's neck as well as checking for presence of a nasal bone.  Most babies with Down's Syndrome lack a nasal bone.  Babies with abnormalities tend to have more fluid built up in the back of their neck creating the clear space to be larger.  For a full description of what this scan is about see Babycenter. Our results for the NT came back average and baby seems okay!! YAY!! Our Little One was squirming around, moving it's arms and legs and even sucked it's thumb (which we got a great pic of).Now when we go back to the doctor in two weeks we will see if we need more testing (since I'm OLD!!!!).

Apparently, this week baby's vocal chords are forming...oh how I hope they aren't exercised too too much!  At the same time, I can't wait to hear that cry.  Baby also has fingerprints now, how crazy!  I can't wait to hold those tiny hands!!

13 Weeks (A bump is def forming)

How far along? 13 weeks along
Total weight gain or loss: 5 lbs
Maternity clothes? Not really. Sometimes I wear a pair of maternity leggings and cords but mostly just wear my pants unbuttoned like a fat ass.
Stretch marks? Nope.
Sleep: Sleeping great, although I did notice I am getting up between 3 and 4 for about 20 minutes and then falling back asleep.
Best moment this week: Our NT appointment and seeing the baby and learning that all the measurements are A-OKAY!!
Miss Anything? Still miss deli turkey and mutz sandwiches.  That’s about it!
Movement: None but I cannot wait.  Sometimes I lie really still hoping to feel it but without a point of reference I guess I probably won’t feel it for a while.
Food cravings: I cannot stop eating Greek yogurt with fresh blueberries and agave nectar drizzled on it.  It’s literally all I think about as soon as I wake up. I also am kinda addicted to Pirates Booty or any type of cheese puff!
Looking forward to: Growing a "real" belly!
Other Stuff: Indigestion & gas is outta control!

Our Rainbow Baby...Could This Be?

October 16, 2012

What is a "Rainbow Baby"?

"Rainbow Babies" are the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it does not mean that the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and the clouds. Storm clouds may still loom over but the rainbow provides a counterbalance of color, energy, and much needed hope.

So it seems as though we caught our rainbow!  Only two cycles after our miscarriage in June!  WOW!

The end of September I had a "feeling" and took a test about 5 days early and saw a very faint faint line.  That has NEVER happened before.  I couldn't believe my eyes!  Each day the line got darker and darker.  We went away to a wedding in Cape May and I took another test when we got home that Sunday and it was a full fledge PREGNANT!!

Faint Line!!!
Getting Darker...
And Darker...
TWO Dark Lines
P R E G N A N T

I was happy and terrified at the very same time!  Going through the trauma of having a miscarriage leaves a lot of baggage (to say the least).  So I decided to not obsess, not focus on it, not take pictures, not Google, not to journal, not to talk about it that much, not do anything the same way I did before and not tell that many people...including my Mom (which was hard).

My goal was to get past the appointment I had last time where I learned there was no heart beat and the baby had died (June 5th 2012 is forever burned into my brain)...the 8 week appointment.  Sadly this time around in my early period of pregnancy (weeks 4 through 9) was not filled with too much joy & happiness, rather lots of "nots", lots of tears, lots of denial, lots of praying, lots of hope and faith.  My prayers are what got me through each day and of course my loving boyfriend.  I prayed for myself, for my strength, for courage, for faith, for my baby, and that my Daddy would watch over us and that THIS is the baby that was MEANT for us to have, to hold, to raise, to love....

The Serenity Prayer

"If you wish for a life without pain. You'll never see the beauty of a rainbow after the rain."

"Without the rain there would be no rainbow."
